Arsenal have been crowned champions of the Premier League, ending their 22-year wait to finish a season as the division victors.

Manchester City's 1-1 draw away to Champions League chasing Bournemouth meant the Gunners are five points clear at the top of the table heading into the final matchday, confirming them as champions.

Monday night's gruelling 1-0 victory over already relegated Burnley proved to be absolutely crucial as its knock-on effect has now handed Arsenal the title.

Arsenal crowned Premier League champions

Mikel Arteta's side have challenged for the Premier League title in two of the last three seasons, falling short as they finished five points and two points off champions Man City in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons respectively.

Arsenal failed to mount a serious fight for the title in the 2024/25 campaign as injuries and inconsistent displays hindered their charge, meaning they ended the term 10 points behind victors Liverpool.

However, this season has seen the Gunners bounce back to end their 22-year wait for a fourth Premier League title, silencing their critics and shaking off the ever-present term of 'bottlers'.

The North Londoners started the season strongly, losing just two of their first 19 games in the league, but did suffer a blip in January, going on a three-game winless run that included a home defeat to Manchester United.

Arteta's side bounced back with two consecutive wins, but made two more slip-ups in February before losing two on the trot in April, including a defeat at City, which saw the gap at the top massively decreased heading into the run-in.

However, brilliant form and Pep Guardiola's side drawing 3-3 at Everton restored Arsenal's advantage and put the title back in their hands.

Kai Havertz's winning goal over Burnley on Monday night meant the Gunners were just one win away from clinching the title, but that triumph had to come away to Conference League finalists Crystal Palace on the final day.

Of course, there were still plenty of nerves surrounding that with most Arsenal fans knowing the problems the Eagles could cause at Selhurst Park, even if they rested key players, but there is no need to panic about that now as the team from the red half of North London will go into the concluding match as champions.

Eli Junior Kroupi, a reported summer transfer target, will go down in Gunners folklore alongside the likes of Marc Overmars, Michael Thomas and Sylvain Wiltord as his stunning strike secured the title.

Now, Arsenal supporters can look forward to their trophy lift ahead of their huge Champions League final clash with Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday 30 May.
