Arsenal face a Bournemouth side sitting 10th in the league, with top five clearly front of mind.

If Mikel Arteta's Arsenal side needed to know how precarious their position was in the top five, Manchester City's 1-0 win over Wolves to move just three points behind the Gunners, will do it.

Having been second in the league behind Liverpool for what feels like forever, the Gunners now have four games to clinch a coveted top-five spot and Champions League football next season.

Granted, winning the Champions League will achieve that too, but the Gunners' 1-0 loss to PSG in the first-leg has thrown a spanner in the works there.

So domestically is the "easier" choice, and with games against Liverpool and Newcastle coming up in the next few weeks, things could get rather interesting and intense for the Gunners.

Just seven points separate Arsenal in second from Nottingham Forest in sixth, and with four games left in the league season, that is not a certainty that the Gunners will finish top five, although it looks likely.

Which brings us to Bournemouth.

This is the Gunners' second-to-last home game of the year, and they are away at Anfield in their next league outing. So there is huge importance on this clash with Bournemouth to get three points, as right now, any win is like gold for the Gunners.

"The message is very clear," Arteta said via arsenal.com. "We have to have the right to win the game tomorrow, be better than Bournemouth and win the game. That's what we have to do and that's the way we have prepared since two days ago."

Arsenal must simply take advantage of its home games, with the other being Newcastle, which will be anything but a walk in the park. Plus, Arsenal is away at Southampton on the final day of the season, which might be a banana skin game given the Saints have been relegated and have nothing to play for but pride.

Ideally, top four would be finalized by then, and the next step on that road is Bournemouth.

Yes, PSG is likely on the mind, but beating the Cherries has to be done at the Emirates, because as odd as it is to say it, Arsenal's Champions League participation next season might just depend on it.
