Arsenal's pedigree across Europe has arguably never been greater than it is right now.

For years, the Gunners were mocked and tormented by rival fans domestically and on the continent. Finishing in the top four and making the last 16 of the Champions League every season, while coping with crippling stadium debts, wasn't enough to avoid tribalistic tribulations.

Now, after reaching the latter stages of Europe's elite club competition three years on the bounce, Arsenal are feared across the globe. No-one wants to face Mikel Arteta's defensively resilient and physically stout machine.

Even the best teams in Europe are quaking in their boots at the thought of playing the Gunners. How times have changed.

Bayern Munich fans are petrified of Arsenal

After seeing off Lille and Napoli convincingly in their first two Champions League matches of the new season, Arsenal's first big test comes next week. The Gunners travel to Bavaria to take on Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.

Vincent Kompany's side started the season in electric form, netting five goals against Stuttgart, five against Bodo/Glimt and seven against Union Berlin in some of their opening few encounters. However, recent draws against Augsburg and Viking have driven the German giants' supporters into a state of panic, and they're now fearing the visit of Arsenal.

Nine years ago, Bayern famously beat the Gunners 10-2 on aggregate in a Champions League round of 16 tie. The North Londoners were so far off their Bundesliga counterparts, despite the claim from the Premier League club's hiearchy being that the move to the Emirates was made to compete with clubs like die Roten.

Now, Bayern's fans are actively expressing how little they're looking forward to Arsenal coming to town.

With star man Michael Olise suspended for the clash next week, one Bayern fan wrote on X: "I’ve given up on the Arsenal game, Olise is 50% of our system. That's not an excuse but the reality. I've seen how our attackers do whenever Olise is out, and I’m not delusional enough to think that will change against Arsenal. Best thing Kompany can do is park the bus and go for a 0-0."

This stunning admission will no doubt shock Arsenal fans, who are used to fearing the German club themselves.

This Bayern supporter wasn't alone with his concerns. Another fan replied to him, writing: "Thing is that we can't defend against crosses and corners, especially against Arsenal, so when we park the bus we probably concede even more goals."

The fact that Bayern fans are so scared of Arsenal that they're urging their manager to 'park the bus' is a sensational turning of the tables. Arteta has changed Gunners fans' lives.

Bayern Munich fans might be on to something with Michael Olise's absence

Olise was dismissed against Viking on Tuesday for two infringements in the space of a minute. First, he tripped a Viking player over, before throwing the ball in the face of another in the aftermath of the foul.

He'll serve his suspension against Arsenal, and Bayern fans are right to be catastrophising this absence. Olise has been sublime over the last 12 months, finishing last season with 25 goals and 28 assists across all competitions.

He is the fulcrum of the Bayern attack. Kompany has created a system where everyone evolves around the Frenchman, and without him, Harry Kane and Luis Diaz may well struggle to elicit the chances they need to beat a stubborn Arsenal side.

Gunners fans ought to be licking their lips ahead of Wednesday's encounter in Munich.
