Arsenal fans won't love what Emiliano Martínez just revealed

It doesn't take a genius to dub Emiliano Martínez one of the best goalkeepers in the world. The Argentina goalkeeper has pushed both his country to success (understatament of the year), but he's also been a key part of Aston Villa's revolution, too.

Unfortunately for Arsenal fans, the Villans are in the position they're in largely due to two former Gunners: Emiliano Martínez and Unai Emery.

In both the goalkeeper and coach positions, Arsenal is pretty sorted. They have one of the best goalkeepers in the world and one of the best coaches in the world themselves. If they didn't, though, Arsenal would feel pretty bummed looking at what they let join Aston Villa.

Ever since leaving Arsenal, Emiliano Martínez has become a villain in more ways than one. He is not popular among the Arsenal fanbase, to say the least.

Emiliano Martínez said the quiet part out loud about joining Arsenal

Speaking about his previous time with Arsenal, Emiliano Martínez revealed that he was motivated by the money, not the football, to join.

In his own words (translated from Spanish to English), Martínez said: “Many people don’t know that my family wasn’t doing well financially at the time, and I decided to come here [to England] to help them. It wasn’t a football move: it was about helping my family. And I achieved that goal."

As honest and truthful as his comments were, Arsenal fans won't love hearing them. While we shouldn't sit on a high horse and expect players not to be money-motivated, to outwardly state that it wasn't a football decision doesn't look right.

Nevertheless, the last thing Arsenal fans need to do is beat a dead horse. Martínez won the FA Cup with the Gunners, and he is always in the club's history for that alone. However, if only he left the club more gracefully, then fans would root for his success more.
