Arsenal have been handed an incredible injury boost before the Sporting CP match. A missing player has returned to training.
Arsenal play their fifth match of the UEFA Champions League campaign tomorrow night. They travel to Lisbon, to face Sporting CP.
Arsenal have had a positive start to their Champions League campaign. They are 12th in the table, having won two games, drawn one and lost one. That said, they will be eager to bounce back to winning form, after losing to Inter Milan last time out.
In general, the Gunners have not been at their best at the start of this campaign. However, the foundations remain for Mikel Arteta to build on. It is certainly within his best interest to secure his instant place in the knockout stages, to avoid playing more unnecessary games.
Arsenal handed injury boost, missing player returns for Sporting CP clash
As outlined by Conor Humm on X (formerly Twitter), Myles Lewis-Skelly was spotted in training, before the Sporting CP clash. This is great news, considering Lewis-Skelly missed the most recent match against Nottingham Forest due to a knock.
Myles Lewis-Skelly has made six appearances (one start) for Arsenal this season, with two of them coming in the Champions League. He was subbed on against PSG and Shakhtar, Arsenal's two wins in the competition.
It is unlikely that Lewis-Skelly will be handed his first Champions League start in this match against Sporting CP. However, depending on the trajectory of the match, he may be afforded the opportunity to impress from the bench again.
Arsenal do not have many injuries. However, the injuries they do have are in the defence. Therefore, Lewis-Skelly is one of those players on his toes, awaiting an opportunity.
One thing which could certainly work in Lewis-Skelly's favour is that he is versatile. He has mostly been seen at left-back, but he can play in other positions too.
