Arsenal handed the initiative to Liverpool after the defeat to West Ham, and Arne Slot's team took full advantage. But what now?
Arsenal's 1-0 loss to West Ham at the Emirates opened the door for Liverpool to essentially end the Gunners' faint title hopes and Arne Slot's team brutally put an end to any talk of Mikel Arteta's side reeling them in.
The 2-0 win over City now moves Liverpool 11 points clear and while it has a game in hand over Arsenal, Arteta's side, right now, doesn't look like a team that is capable of making another run.
Yes, there are 12 games left in the league season, so technically, it isn't over, but the football gods would have to do some serious wheeling and dealing in north London for this to become a "race" again.
But 11 points behind, coming off a horror loss at home to a team that was 16th in the league table and had only won once in its last five domestic games, it is a bad place to be.
So, what's next for Arsenal?
"First, we will suffer for 24-28 hours, and feel the pain and make sure that we come back on Monday with that bite and that anger instilled in us for Wednesday," Arteta said via arsenal.com.

We get the feeling that the suffering will go long past that mark, Mikel.
But while there is naturally doom and gloom around the club right now and anger at how it so badly mishandled the January transfer window, there is something that we will be eagerly watching over the coming weeks.
Which way this Arsenal season will tilt.
With essentially nothing to play for domestically, will the Gunners, who are nine points above Newcastle in fifth, manage to calm these troubled seas and still finish the year in a somewhat positive manner?
Or conversely, will the Gunners collapse and potentially fall out of the top four? Yes, that seems heavy-handed, but we have seen teams end the season with a whimper before. And let's not forget, there are still 12 games left. That is a lot of football.
Arteta says the club must be angry at how the West Ham defeat played out, and now they must get ready to go again away at third-placed Nottingham Forest.
Arsenal's season can go one of two ways, and against Forest, we'll get a good indication of which way it will go.
