According to journalist Tom Collomosse, Arsenal have not yet given up on signing Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa this season.

However, they will have to do a lot better than the last offer they reportedly made for the Englishman. According to the journalist, Arsenal’s last offer for Konsa was a little above £30 million, which is just over half of Aston Villa’s valuation of their star defender.

The report does not state the exact amount, but it does suggest that the offer was well below what Villa want. So £30–35 million is a fair estimate in this scenario.

Regardless, Arsenal are still very much interested and have not lost hope of signing Konsa this season, but they will have to do a lot better than they have so far.

It is also worth noting that players at Aston Villa are already coming to terms with the fact that Ezri Konsa might be leaving this summer. That is bad news for Villa, but pretty good news for Arsenal, because it suggests there is a real chance that the Premier League champions can get their man.

Ezri Konsa is much better than Cristian Romero

Konsa would be a much better signing than Cristian Romero, a player Arsenal have reportedly shown interest in over the last couple of days.

Konsa is the more stable, solid, and confident centre-back who has played at a very high level for the last few years. He was a regular starter during England’s World Cup campaign, where he was one of the better performers for the team.

He has been a very good presence for this Villa side, who have made the Champions League twice in the last three years.

It will be interesting to see how they replace their best defender, but it is also interesting to see how Mikel Arteta would fit Konsa into the squad.

Even after William Saliba returns from injury, Konsa is good enough to want a starting role at a club like Arsenal.

He might not be better than either of the current centre-backs, but he can still compete for a role, and he also has the ability to play at full-back.

One thing is for sure though, if Arteta wants the Englishman to join Arsenal this summer, he will have to convince the club to put in a much bigger offer.

Konsa has already shown that he is one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League. He is entering his prime, and he has been a very solid presence for Villa over the last few years.

There are only a few centre-backs in the Premier League that are worth a ÂŁ60 million valuation, and Konsa is definitely one of them.

If Arsenal want him, they have to pay.
