The Gunners aren't in the business of getting a deal done for the sake of it - it has to be the right one.

When Arsenal finished its last Premier League game of the 2024/25 season, the thought was that the club would act swiftly in getting its ideal No. 9 into the club.

But alas, we hit July 1, and still nothing substantial has been done.

RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko and Sporting's Viktor Gyokeres are the two big guns linked with Arsenal and either would be a fine addition. However, things are moving rather slowly.

And this, naturally, has caused Arsenal fans to get a little agitated.

Sesko and desire for a higher wage and release clause be added into his contract wasn't ideal, and as for Gyokeres, it is reportedly hsi dream to come to the Emirates.

So, with all that being said, why is there no big move towards signing either?

Why are Gunners playing slow game with striker search?

That my friends, is a great question.

Having known about the striker issue for the best part of two years, one would think the club would have done all the groundwork so when the summer transfer window opened, all that would be needed was to dot the I's and cross the T's.

However, it appears the Gunners aren't in too much of a rush according to Football.London's Tom Canton, who writes that the club will not "panic buy" with Mikel Arteta wanting whichever striker it is, in preseason camp by July 7.

Hmm, right. We can feel Gunners' fans anger.

Arsenal shouldn't be in any position to "panic buy," especially when the club has likely known which players they wanted to target 12 months ago.

But maybe this is wanting to get the best possible deal, something else Canton states in his piece too. It isn't as simple as throwing money at the player the club wants, there's a process.

And it's a pain-staking one.

But for all the desire of the fan base to get a quality striker in before preseason starts, it is clear the Gunners are rather content to play it slow, and get the best deal possible.

But will that result in the best player being signed?

My word, it better.
