The midfielder looks set to leave Bayern Munich on a free transfer at the end of the season after the Bavarian withdrew their contract offer on Thursday. Talks are said to be ongoing but the chances of Kimmich departing the Bundesliga giants are increasing.

Kimmich has been hesitant to sign a new deal with Bayern amid interest from a number of Premier League clubs. Arsenal have held talks while Liverpool and Manchester City are also reported to be monitoring his situation.
The Gunners may look to sign midfield reinforcement this summer with both Thomas Partey and Jorginho expected to leave on free transfers. Martin Zubimendi is already reported to be joining Arsenal however so the potential signing of Kimmich may bring some controversy with other areas arguably under higher priority.
Joshua Kimmich would be an excellent signing for Arsenal

While potentially unnecessary, the signing of Kimmich would be a smart move by the Gunners. At 30 years old and with a wealth of trophy wins under his belt, the German would bring plenty of experience to the club. The departure of Jorginho will mean a loss of an experienced squad member and Kimmich could be the perfect replacement.
His versatility will also be a welcome addition at the club as he is also capable of playing at right back. With Jurrien Timber and the freshly fit Ben White set for a heavy workload in the position, Kimmich would be a suitable replacement at full back when needed.
With the need for a striker and improvement in other areas much greater, the potential signing of Joshua Kimmich may not be well received. However, the experience and versatility he would offer the side can not be understated, and to be signing such a player for essentially no cost, a bargain like that shouldn't go unnoticed.
