Arsenal crashed out of the FA Cup at the hands of Manchester United thanks to a penalty shootout after the game ended 1-1 in regulation.
These are tough times for Arsenal right now, and things have only gotten worse after Mikel Arteta's side was dumped out of the FA Cup by Manchester United after a penalty shootout.
The Red Devils converted all five of their spot kicks, while the Gunners only managed three. After a horror week, the pressure is ramping up on Arteta and his team.
Kai Havetz missed several guilt-edged chances, Martin Odegaard missed a second-half penalty, and Gabriel Jesus suffered a knee injury to perfectly encapsulate Arsenal's horror show at the Emirates.
Here are three takeaways from the brutal loss to United.
Sorry Kai, you aren't the answer
Credit Havertz for doing his best, but he isn't the answer up top for Arsenal and we've known that for sometime, but his performance against United only reinforces that, but in the worst way possible.
In a game where the Gunners simply had to win to get some form of positive momentum rolling, Havertz wasted chance after chance as it wasn't his day. One could say a proper striker would have netted themselves at least a hat-trick on another day.
It's not his fault as he's being asked to play a position not natural to him, but if there is one positive to come out of this train wreck, it's that Arteta and the club must break the bank and get attacking reinforcements.
