As expected, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta wasn't happy with Michael Oliver's decision to send off Myles Lewis-Skelly in the first half for what was deemed "serious foul play."

Well, one thing we can say is thank goodness Arsenal managed to overcome Michael Oliver's horror decision to send off Myles Lewis-Skelly in the first half against Wolves to secure a 1-0 win.

With the blowback from the red card monumental and coming from credentialed journalists like Charles Watts and Sami Mokbel. It makes it even more heightened because now it isn't just fans who have had enough; people within the industry have as well.

Even legend Alan Shearer called it a "horrible decision" on BBC Match of the Day, and it just goes into the catalog of decisions that have gone against the Gunners that baffle the mind.

Speaking post-game via Sky Sports, Mikel Arteta didn't mince his words when talking about the red card.

“I am absolutely fuming but I leave it with you. Because it is that obvious. I don’t think my words are going to help.”

Somewhat luckily, the Gunners were able to overcome the horrific decision thanks to Riccardo Calafiori's second-half strike, managed to claim all three points.

But despite Arsenal showing grit and determination not to let such a decision mentally derail them, naturally, all of the questions post-game were about Myles' red card.

Fans want the club to challenge the decision, but we are hoping that they won't need to and that calmer heads prevail, although in truth, we shouldn't exactly be holding out breath for the right decision to be made. Arsenal was "lucky" that it managed to win the game, because who knows what the reaction would have been if we lost.

The reaction to Oliver's decision, particularly when he had his assistants to look over the vision of Myles' tackle and give advice, yet everyone thought it was "serious foul play."

What makes it worse is that when Wolves were reduced to 10 men themselves, the tackle from Joao Gomes, which was as "bad" as Lewis-Skelly's, was only given a yellow, which makes fans wonder how that couldn't be serious foul play as well.

The Gunners are hoping they don't have to challenge the ruling, but if they have to, you can bet they will be bringing all the smoke to get this horror decision overturned.
