Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is remaining hopeful that the injury suffered to Myles Lewis-Skelly isn't too bad.
Arsenal managed a 3-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League as Mikel Arteta's side took a big step towards qualifying for the next round.
But they did it without Myles Lewis-Skelly, who has been a feature of the backline for the last month with the Hale End star feeling something towards the end of the 2-2 draw at home to Aston Villa.
As such, Lewis-Skelly wasn't involved in Arsenal's win over Zagreb that saw Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard, all find themselves on the score sheet.
Given the sheer number of games that the Gunners have played over the last few weeks, that can take a toll on even the most seasoned veterans, let alone an 18-year-old like Myles.
Arteta spoke after the win over Zagreb and offered an update on Lewis-Skelly's injury.
"I'm not sure," Arteta said via arsenal.com. "He judged it in the game against Villa and he thought it was okay and he finished the game and the next day it wasn't bad. And then yesterday he wasn't feeling right so he started the session and he wasn't feeling good so we need some more tests tomorrow. Hopefully it's nothing big but the games are coming very fast."
So, Myles might have been rested as a precaution, and given how quickly the games are coming, it made sense to give him the night off and let Oleksandr Zinchenko get a rare start.
But while Lewis-Skelly didn't feature, Ethan Nwaneri did.
Another Hale End product who has been sidelined for the last couple of weeks, Nwaneri made his return against Zagreb and immediately picked up where he left off, making life tough for the Dinamo defenders.
"It's great to have him," Arteta added. "He's been training really well the last few days. He's adapting to the position and you can tell straight away the threat that he generates. How he commits people on the ball that he can put in these areas as well. So really good to have him back. We need options, we need threat, we need competition there, so it's great to have him."
The Gunners took a big step towards qualifying for the next round and with Wolves up next in the Premier League, it remains to be seen if Lewis-Skelly will take part.
But at least Nwaneri is back amongst the action as the injury troubles appear to be slowly working themselves out.
