Arsenal could be close to a deal for Benjamin Sesko as the club's striker search might be coming to an end.

You feel that? The winds of change are blowing through north London with Arsenal and its striker search now seemingly taking a turn for the better.

With RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko now seemingly "the" target for the Gunners and he has moved to the top of the wish list for Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta.

Having been a long-term admirer of the striker, the Gunners are now reportedly stepping up their efforts to sign him in the coming weeks.

So far, all we have heard are rumors about how far along negotiations are between the German side and Arsenal, but there is a feeling that it is now a matter of when, not if, Sesko comes to north London.

Arsenal's Sesko hunt takes big turn

We know that a big deal like this will take time, and for fans, they want things done as quickly as possible, but it is important to get the right sort of deal as well.

We have stated previously that the Gunners can't afford to sit on their hands this offseason, they must be proactive, and thus far, with Kepa Arrizabalaga reportedly close to coming to be David Raya's backup, and now the Sesko news, it appears Arsenal and Berta are on the front foot.

And Sky Sports' Florian Plettenburg has delivered one sentence that might ease any angst over the Gunners' attempt to sign Sesko sooner rather than later.

"I am totally convinced Sesko will play for Arsenal," he said.

Hmm. Okay. "Totally convinced" is quite the headline grabber, but this isn't our first rodeo when it comes the Gunners and big transfer news.

So while Plettenberg's words are good for the soul, personally, I am waiting for the "Orny Bomb" for this to feel real.

It is hoped that the deal goes through sooner rather than later, and in an ideal world, before the Gunners begin their preseason matches so Sesko can get acclimated.

Plettenberg seems assured Sesko will be a Gunner, but until it is made official, we can't go too overboard here, despite it being hard not to be excited that the club is finally being proactive.
