Arsenal legend Nigel Winterburn has serious doubts the club will spend big on a striker in January.
If you are in the section of Arsenal fans who are holding out hope that the club will break the bank for a striker in January, then what is about to come won't please you.
Fresh off a 2-0 loss to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup that saw Alexander Isak dominate Arsenal's backline, the yearning for the club to sign the striker has gotten strong.
So much so that some want a move for Isak now, in January, to help with the Gunners' lack of attacking threat.
But as we know, moves in January are often overpriced ones, and it's clear that despite the need for a striker of Isak's caliber, the club doesn't seem too keen on investing significant funds.
But this is the time for the Gunners to loosen the purse strings because as things stand, Arsenal need forward options and they need them now. Of course, the other side of the coin is that at this time of the year, players are at a premium due to club's not wanting to let their player's go mid-season.
But the Gunners simply can't afford not to have reinforcements come in and we will get a great idea of how much they value winning the league title because the one thing that might stand in their way is whether or not they invest in getting someone into the club, and in truth, they should.

Any Isak move would require some serious funds to be poured into it. Plus, while Isak is setting the world on fire for the Magpies, is there a guarantee that his form would immediately translate to the Gunners and he would continue on his merry way?
No. But he is better than Arsenal's current crop of attacking options.
Either way, the longer this transfer window goes on, the more apparent it becomes that the Gunners won't invest heavily "just because" they have a dying need for a striker.
While fans will scoff at that notion, and have every right to because the one issue the Arsenal has right now is finishing off their good work up the pitch.
Isak would almost certainly do that. However, whether its him or other options, the Gunners don't appear to want to part ways with funds in January.
