Arsenal have been offered a huge fitness boost ahead of their second-leg clash with Paris Saint-Germain as both Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori have been spotted in first team training.

The Evening Standard reported that the defensive duo were involved in training with their teammates despite both being doubts for the trip to Paris, something that will come as a huge boost for Mikel Arteta.

Their potential returns to the side have come at a great time with the Gunners in desperate need of overturning a 1-0 deficit in the French capital.

Timber and Calafiori spotted in Arsenal training

Jurrien Timber had initially been a doubt for the game against PSG after he missed the weekend's defeat to Bournemouth. Following the loss, Mikel Arteta had little confidence that the Dutch defender would be available for the second-leg clash.

Riccardo Calafiori has been absent from the squad with a knee injury since mid-March. Myles Lewis-Skelly has been relied on consistently as the Gunners' first choice left-back, but with the Italian's return potentially imminent, he could be offered some respite in the final games of the season.

The return of both defenders would come as a great boost to the side. Timber has been a solid force down the right side of defence throughout the campaign and his presence will be very much needed in Paris. When fit, Calafiori has impressed and may now have the chance to do so before the season concludes.

Martin Odegaard was also involved in training after initial fears he could be absent for the game, having been spotted limping following the loss to Bournemouth.

It is yet to be confirmed if the defensive duo will be involved in Wednesday's meeting with PSG, but Mikel Arteta should offer an update on Timber, Calafiori and other injured Arsenal players in his pre-match press conference.
