Arsenal are one Bradley Barcola transfer away from the perfect summer

It makes too much sense, which probably means Arsenal won't do it.

Arsenal are one painstakingly obvious transfer away from securing the Premier League trophy again, so why are they not making more of an effort?

The Vinicius Junior saga that lasted all of a week distracted us all from the painfully familiar feeling of Arsenal doing little else in the transfer window.

Yes, Bruno Guimaraes, Piero Hincapie, Illan Meslier and Christos Tzolis have been signed, but if an alien came down from space and we asked them to guess which team signed the latter two, they probably wouldn't say the current champions. The alien would probably say something incoherent, and I would walk away slowly scared for my life, but that's an entirely different story.

Arsenal's perfect final transfer is in danger of falling into Liverpool's hands

To cut a long story short, Arsenal need to sign Bradley Barcola from PSG, rather than letting Liverpool walk away with another player the Gunners desperately need.

Barcola is genuinely one of the best players in the world in his position, and those are the signings Arsenal need to be making. In the same way they did with Bruno G, they need to bring the best of the best into their ranks.

Right now, Liverpool appears to be leading the race. Arsenal seem to be biding their time, with no official offer tabled for Barcola yet.

Which is crazy, because if anyone is going to come in and secure their second Premier League trophy in a row, it would be Barcola. He is the type of game-changing player that Arsenal need to be signing, and he would strengthen a position that was known to be Arsenal's weakest last time out.

The only way that Arsenal's transfer activity in the attacking department can be described is by the meme. You know, the one of the stick man poking a stick (ironically) at the ground, saying "come on, do something." Nothing describes how Arsenal fans feel more right now.

The sad reality is this. Liverpool are the most likely club to sign Bradley Barcola, but let's face it, that's a genuinely pointless signing for everybody involved. Liverpool do not need another winger; they need to sign more defenders. It is similar to when they signed Alexander Isak instead of Arsenal; they didn't need him as much as they needed other positions, either.

The transfer that makes the most sense is the one that doesn't appear to be happening. If Arsenal signed Bradley Barcola, they could genuinely tap out of the transfer window before the season starts and call it a perfect window. But they won't, and that's simply the Arsenal we've grown to
