Arsenal managed a dominant 3-1 Champions League win over Bayern Munich on Wednesday evening and the result proved they currently have the capability to beat any team in the world.

After an even first half that saw Jurrien Timber and Lennart Karl score for either side to make it level at the break, the Gunners made light work of the Bundesliga giants in the second 45 as Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli scored to secure all three points.

It was a brilliant all-round team performance against Bayern and while there was the slight slip-up on their behalf, Arsenal always looked as if they were going to be the winning side and showed that in their current form, they really could beat any side.

Going into the game, Bayern were the only side that sat above Arsenal in the league phase table and the two were of the three teams who had won all of their opening Champions League games so far this season.

It was always going to be a tough clash to call with a close game expected, but many expected the Bavarians to come out on top to disrupt the Gunners' outstanding run of form and lower their expectations for the season.

Considering their scoring record this campaign and their previous encounters with the north London side, Bayern were also tipped to be Arsenal's first real defensive test and there was an expectation it could have been a painful night for the hosts.

However, none of that happened as Mikel Arteta's side put on a brilliant show at the Emirates to manage a crucial and statement win, leapfrog their opponents at the top of the table and confirm themselves as the only side to have won their first five Champions League games this season.

Not many thought the Gunners would be the victors in that clash, or at least in that fashion, and that proved they really can beat any team in the world in their current form.

The victory over Bayern was their 16th win in 19 games across all competitions this season having only failed to win in three matches so far with all coming in the Premier League. After a stunning Dominik Szoboszlai free kick saw them lose to Liverpool at Anfield, they have since drawn to Manchester City and Sunderland, a side that have surprised many already this campaign.

Elsewhere, they have managed a number of convincing wins in the league and Carabao Cup, as well as easily dispatching every European opponent they have faced. That has allowed them to build a brilliant run of form over recent months.

As the sit top of both the Premier League and Champions League tables, Arsenal find themselves in a position where they are the team to beat. Every aspect of their play is working in their favour and they are looking like a side that are incredibly hard to break down.

Ahead of Wednesday's match, Bayern were labelled by many as the best team in the world, but they saw their unbeaten start ended by the Gunners so does that make Arsenal the globe's top side? Whether it does or if it doesn't, there is no denying that Arteta's team really do look like they can beat anyone at the moment and every fan will be hoping they can keep that up for the rest of the season.
