Ex-Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be set for a shock return to England following reports of a possible move to Birmingham City.
Despite rumours Besiktas had terminated his contract earlier this summer, he remains with the club and is currently in genuine talks over ending his deal. Success in those negotiations could allow him to join the newly promoted Championship side amid wanting a fresh start in his home nation.
Oxlade-Chamberlain remains the Gunners' record sale, having raked in a fee of £35million with his move to Liverpool in 2017 and has interest from clubs in the Premier League and Championship, as well as Birmingham.

With Birmingham the only interested side to be named by top news outlets, the West Midlands city looks to be Oxlade-Chamberlain's most likely destination if he is to agree a contract termination with Besiktas.
The Blues, who are partially owned by legendary New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, won the League One title last season and have made a good start to life back in the Championship, sitting sixth with one win and a draw from their first two games.
They have already brought the likes of Tommy Doyle and Demari Gray to St Andrew's during the transfer window and Oxlade-Chamberlain could be their next impressive addition.
The former England international joined Arsenal in 2011 following a breakthrough campaign with boyhood club Southampton and spent seven seasons in north London, scoring 20 goals in 198 appearances.
His £35m departure to Liverpool ahead of the 2017/18 season saw him become the Gunners' record sale, a feat that still stands to this day, albeit now tied with Folarin Balogun's move to Monaco.
During a summer where Arsenal have looked to offload a number of deadwood players, Oxlade-Chamberlain's transfer record has been the subject of much conversation from fans and that will surely continue with his name hitting the headlines.
The Gunners have come under plenty of criticism for their inability to secure good fees when selling players with many feeling they should have now eclipsed the record set by Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The Ox could come back to haunt Arsenal if he is to make the move to Birmingham or a Premier League side. If he moves to the Midlands, he will no doubt be looking to help Chris Davies' side make their return to the top division, potentially setting up an encounter with his former club next season or he could meet them sooner if he secures a transfer to a team in England's top flight.
