The Gunners boss thinks his new striker is going to be a serious problem for defences.

Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres looked far better against Athletic Club than he did against Villareal, with No. 14 looking like the menacing beast Gunners fans thought he would be.

Now, it is preseason, so we can't exactly go too overboard with what we saw, but goodness me, Viktor made quite the impression.

Latching onto Martin Zubimendi's cross, the Swedish hitman flicked the ball past Unai Simón in the Villareal goal to open the scoring in the 34th minute in what we hope will be a sign of things to come for Arsenal's striker.

For so long needing a proper frontman, the Gunners now have one, and with the Premier League season just around the corner, that sees Arsenal travel to face Manchester United, Viktor getting that first goal out of the way will settle the nerves, even if it was preseason.

Arteta makes bold declaration on Gyokeres

With Arsenal's 3-0 win over Villareal in the club's back pocket, attention now turns to the first league game of the season, with the Gunners now seemingly hitting on all cylinders after a so-so preseason with a chopping and changing squad.

And if opposing teams were a little scared of facing Viktor, what Arteta stated post the Villareal win about what Gyokeres will bring to the team will have them shaking in their boots.

"Well I think his goals, his threat, I think he pins both centre backs, he's a player that when you're living with a space, one against one, he's going to destroy you," Arteta said via arsenal.com. "So he's going to create a lot of space as well for us and yeah, the moment that in any situation there is a player there that can score a goal."

With their new striker in tow, the Gunners will head to Old Trafford confident of securing a positive result, as the United defense now knows that if they plan to go one-on-one against Viktor, it won't end well. Perhaps a tactical shift will be needed.

Either way, Arsenal has its hitman, and with the confidence flowing after scoring against Villareal, maybe Gyokeres is ready to "destroy" United to open the Premier League season.
