Erling Haaland's Manchester City future seems to be up in the air as the club face a tremendous legal battle with the Premier League after being found guilty of 114 breaches in relation to financial regulations and co-operation with the subsequent investigation.

The ongoing situation is expected to take some time to come to a resolution with the potential punishment for City speculated to be anything from complete league expulsion to a huge points deduction to a mere slap on the wrist with a fine and transfer ban.

While there is no clear indication of the real sanctions City will face, any major penalty could create a transfer ripple effect that may lead to a number of key players leaving the club, Haaland included. The record-breaking Norway striker would likely be one of those and he has been linked with a surprise move to Arsenal should he bid farewell to the Etihad Stadium.

Haaland is reported to have made Barcelona his priority destination in the event he leaves City, but Gunners fans can still wonder about the possibility of him pulling on the famous red and white shirt, and a move to the Emirates would be a dream that could end in total football dominance for Arsenal.

Arsenal signing Erling Haaland could end in total football dominance

Since being appointed as Gunners manager in December 2019, Mikel Arteta has rebuilt the squad to be one of the best in football with top players in almost every position, but one area he has struggled to create complete dominance is striker.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette led the line in the Spaniard's early years, netting 38 and 29 goals respectively under his watch, before both leaving the club in 2022. Despite delivering an FA Cup and Community Shield, neither set the world on fire with the worst periods of their Arsenal spells coming while being managed by Arteta.

The 2022 summer transfer window then saw Gabriel Jesus brought in as the club's new number nine, but despite an incredible start to life in red and white, he once again failed to dominate the frontline, scoring 32 goals in 123 appearances.

Kai Havertz was signed from London rivals Chelsea in 2023 and has netted 39 times in 118 matches for the Gunners, but injuries and inconsistent form have prevented him from being the deadly striker Arteta needs.

Viktor Gyökeres joined from Sporting in 2025 with many having high hopes of him finally solving Arsenal's goalscoring problems having enjoyed a prolific spell in Portugal, but despite scoring 21 goals and winning the Premier League in his debut season, his subpar performances this campaign have led most to believe he won't be a long-term fix at the Emirates.

Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard and Mikel Merino are among those to have also operated at striker under Arteta with the latter enjoying the most success during his spells as a makeshift centre forward.

Arteta still faces a big problem over who his best striker is though and with Havertz out injured, he finds himself needing to rely on Gyökeres once again, whose recent international form looks to have saved his reputation.

If Arsenal were to ever sign Haaland, Arteta would never have such an issue again as there is no doubt the Norwegian's goalscoring brilliance would fix the woes the Gunners have repeatedly suffered up front.

The number nine has fasttracked to being one of the greatest strikers the Premier League has ever seen since joining City, having struck 169 goals in 205 appearances across all competitions for the Manchester side, and also enjoying much silverware success too.

Haaland has won two league titles, two FA Cups, a League Cup, a Community Shield, one Champions League and a UEFA Super Cup during his time at the Etihad, making him one of the most successful strikers in the current game.

That glory is something that would no doubt continue if he were to join Arsenal as not only does he bring plenty of winning experience, but also his goalscoring could have changed moments that hindered the Gunners in the past when they failed to capitalise on chances such as in the 2026 Champions League and Carabao Cup finals.

Haaland also shares a good relationship with international teammate and Gunners captain Martin Ødegaard, having played 49 times together for Norway, with the midfielder setting up his compatriot for 10 goals.

After finally winning the Premier League last season and recently putting pen to paper on a new long-term contract, Arteta's aim is likely to bring Arsenal into an era that could see them dominate football with the target of claiming further titles as well as ending the agonising wait for glory in the Champions League.

As the past has shown, this will be tough to do without a reliable and consistent goalscorer, but if Haaland were to be brought into the team, it could end up being a different story as his brilliance in front of goal along with the quality and depth Arsenal possess throughout their team would be enough to make the Gunners one of football's greatest teams.

Signing Haaland is a complete dream for Arsenal at this current moment, but if it were to spin into reality, it could end in total football dominance for the club.
