Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Arsenal are moving in a more positive direction with their Benjamin Sesko pursuit, talks have reached an advanced stage.
In the world of soccer transfers, there is a bucketload of jargon. Typically, transfers start at the "interest", stage, then come "negotiations", then come "talks", then "advanced talks" then "personal terms", then "club terms", then... Here We Go.
At least that's the general, condensed trend. Depending on the conditions of certain deals, those stages might be flipped around at times, but that's the general trajectory.
And now, Arsenal have entered the "advanced talks" stage with a player that will seriously excite the fanbase, for multiple reasons.
Arsenal take bold step fans weren’t expecting in striker pursuit
According to a recent update from Fabrizio Romano, which has Arsenal fans jumping for joy, talks have progressed between Arsenal and Benjamin Sesko and now they are at an advanced stage.
In his own words, Romano said: "Arsenal are now advancing in negotiations for Benjamin Šeško after initial concrete talks reported last week. Discussions underway and proceeding well between all parties involved, player & clubs. No agreement yet now or expected this weekend; but advancing."
Absolutely remarkable. While we don't want to jump the gun, this at least shows that Arsenal are actively trying to sign a new striker. This is more than what can be said about recent transfer windows.
For a long while now, fans and pundits alike have been calling out for that one obvious missing piece: a new striker. At least it seemed obvious, but it wasn't pursued by the Arsenal hierarchy until now.
If Arsenal sign Benjamin Sesko, then they'll be much better placed to win the Premier League next season. It isn't a nailed-on guarantee, but they'll have their best shot in years.
Today has been a pretty good day for Arsenal fans, and the perfect way to end the week. Tying Gabriel down to a new contract shows that the club is looking to make their star players, while progressing in talks with Benjamin Sesko shows they're trying to address squad needs.
Arsenal have never let us down in the past, right?
