Arsenal secured a 3-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, much to the delight of Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal took a big step towards qualifying for the next round in the Champions League with a 3-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb at the Emirates Stadium.

An early Declan Rice goal set the tone for the Gunners, and while Mikel Arteta's side was made to work for it, Gabriel Martinelli's sublime cross in the second half found its way to Kai Havertz, and the German headed home emphatically to double Arsenal's lead.

Skipper Martin Odegaard put the finishing touches on the game with a stoppage-time tap-in which some say flattered the Gunners, but given the goal-scoring issues of late, any goal that goes in should be celebrated.

The win moves the Gunners up to third in the Champions League table, two points behind second-place Barcelona. Arteta's side is now in a strong position to progress to the next round.

"I'm very happy overall, it's a massive step forward," Arteta said via arsenal.com. "It puts us in a really strong position to play the last game in Girona. We scored three goals, created plenty of chances, dominated the game, didn't concede a shot and another clean sheet at home. So overall, very happy."

The Gunners were made to work for the win, despite the stats looking rather one-sided.

Arsenal managed 17 shots to Zagreb's two, but more importantly, the Gunners didn't allow a shot on target for the entire contest.

Havertz back in the goals was good for the soul as the German has now made it back-to-back games that he has found the neat, and it appears his efforts against Manchester United in the FA Cup loss might have been forgotten for a while.

Martinelli has shown that he can be a source of production out wide, registering a superb assist for Havertz as the Brazilian looked dangerous all night driving at the Zagreb defense and putting balls into the box that created chaos.

Overall, the win won't live long in the memory, but it is a win, and the Gunners managed to score three goals in a game for the first time in six games in all competitions, plus a first clean sheet in their last seven games.

So, there are ample positives to come out of this clash, and attention now turns to Wolves in the league where Arsenal will look to build on what was a much-needed result.
