Today, Raheem Sterling has revealed some brilliant Arsenal transfer news. He would prefer to stay in North London, rather than cut his loan move short.

Raheem Sterling joined Arsenal late on in the summer transfer window. The loaned signing arrived from Chelsea with a plethora of Premier League experience. Therefore, the expectation was that he'd play a key role for Arsenal.

Lo and behold, it has not been the case. In fact, Sterling has hardly played a role in this Arsenal team, resorting instead to cameos from the bench and minutes in the less important competitions.

Even despite this, Raheem Sterling has made a key decision on his future before the January transfer window.

Arsenal transfer news: Raheem Sterling makes key decision for January

According to a report from Simon Collings of The Standard, Raheem Sterling has already made up his mind about where he sees himself playing for the rest of this season. He would prefer to stay at Arsenal and fight for his place, rather than cut his loan short.

Of course, there is an option for a club and its loaned player to cut their contract short in January. This is expected to be the case with other Premier League clubs but it won't happen with Raheem Sterling.

What's more is that Collings has revealed that Raheem Sterling remains a part of Mikel Arteta's plans going forward. While he hasn't played a key role until this point, Arteta still considers him an important piece of the puzzle.

Of course, Arteta had experience of coaching Sterling before he joined Arsenal. They were both underneath Pep Guardiola at Man City, during arguably the best era of Sterling's career. Therefore, it is easy to see why Arteta has a lot of faith in the Jamaica-born England international.

We are now in the heat of the schedule. It's that infamous point in the season where the fixture schedule becomes congested. Of course, Arsenal fans need absolutely no reminding of the winter period.

Arsenal fans are often tainted with the saying "when the trimmings come down, Arsenal come down." This hasn't necessarily been the case over the last two seasons but this time out, Arsenal gave us all a blast from the past.

So, there might be an element of squad rotation in the Arsenal lineup between now and the end of this period. Perhaps Raheem Sterling could benefit from these changes.
