Arsenal must be careful when trying to address an area they need to address this summer. There are a few obvious areas where improvement is needed in this Gunners squad, given the strength and depth of it.

Even with the Champions League final heartbreak, Arsenal have had a fine season, and it's hard to look at the squad with any kind of pessimism for next season. Having said that, there are a couple of areas that can improve, and the left wing spot is chief among them.

Rafael Leao announces he wants out

Interestingly, just as Arsenal begin their search for a left winger, AC Milan's Rafael Leao, who has long been linked with a Premier League move, has announced he wants to leave Milan and Serie A.

“I think I’ve given Milan everything I could give. It’s been a club that helped me grow a lot, that supported me in the tough moments," he said. "And I’m happy to have managed to write my name in the club’s history."

“Everyone has their dreams, their challenges, the things they desire, the goals they want to reach. And I too want to try a new challenge in a new league,”

Arsenal must not rush into Leao move

As tempting as it may be to move for a left winger who is now clearly on the market, and one with top-level experience, the Gunners must be careful not to rush into the move. Milan want around £60,5million to sell, according to reports, but better deals may be out there.

Leao scored 10 but assisted only three in the season just gone, and while he is a top player who is capable of being dangerous, he is not truly elite.

Arsenal already have players on the left side who are dangerous on their day, but they need an absolute killer who is going to terrify defences week-in, week-out if they want to complete this front line.

There is talk of Bradley Barcola potentially leaving PSG, Vinicius Junior may be on the market if he doesn't see eye-to-eye with Jose Mourinho and his style of play. There could be truly world-class options on the market this summer, even if they cost big money, and Leao is unlikely to be the pick of the bunch.

Arsenal have a need, but it's not a need they should rush to fill. It's going to be a pricey deal, whoever the player is, and so Arteta and Andra Berta must get it right.
