Fresh off the highest of highs, Arsenal return to Earth on Saturday as they face a rugged Brentford outfit in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

The mood in north London is buoyant, to say the least, after Tuesday night's coming-of-age display against 15-time European champions Real Madrid. Arsenal's second-half blitz inspired by a pair of fierce Declan Rice free-kicks mean they take a 3-0 lead to the Santiago Bernabeu for next week's second leg.

Madrid cannot be written off, not in this competition, but the Gunners have given themselves a great chance of reaching their first Champions League semi-final in 16 years.

Wednesday's clash will be Mikel Arteta's overwhelming priority, but his side have a job to do at the weekend in a bid to prolong the Premier League title race. Arsenal are 11 points back from Liverpool with seven games to play.

They're facing a Brentford side poised for a mid-table finish. While the Bees were beaten at Newcastle on their previous away trip, Thomas Frank's side have been one of the league's best travelling sides in recent months. The visitors cannot be completely ruled out of European contention just yet either.

Only six points separate Brentford in 12th and Fulham in eighth.

Arsenal team news

The Premier League title race isn't dead yet, but Arteta's surely got to rotate handily for Saturday's clash.

I expect the likes of Jurrien Timber, Bukayo Saka, and Rice to earn rests ahead of next week's second leg in the Spanish capital. Ben White is poised for a start, as are Raheem Sterling and Ethan Nwaneri.

Riccardo Calafiori's injury means Myles Lewis-Skelly is likely to continue at left-back. Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus remain sidelined up top, as does Gabriel in defence. Mikel Merino could drop into midfield with Leandro Trossard operating as a false nine.

Predicted Arsenal lineup vs Brentford: Raya; White, Saliba, Kiwior, Lewis-Skelly; Jorginho, Merino, Odegaard; Nwaneri, Trossard, Sterling.

Brentford team news

Thomas Frank revealed that there's no new injury news for the visitors heading into Saturday's game. Gustavo Nunes and Aaron Hickey both featured for the U21s in the week as they step up their respective recoveries from lengthy layoffs, but neither player is expected to play a part in north London.

Summer signing Igor Thiago remains out of action, but Mathias Jensen and Rico Henry were available for the stalemate with Chelsea last Sunday.

Jose Dasilva and Fabio Carvalho are out.

Predicted Brentford lineup vs Arsenal: Flekken; Ajer, Collins, Van den Berg, Lewis-Potter; Norgaard, Janelt; Mbeumo, Damsgaard, Schade; Wissa.

Arsenal vs Brentford prediction

The Emirates is going to be jovial, but we can't expect the home atmosphere to be as electric as it was on Tuesday. Not for 90 minutes anyway.

I'm expecting a fast Arsenal start, but Brentford are pesky opponents and will find a way of staying the game even if they fall behind early. Frank's side are sound from set-pieces and dangerous on the breakaway. With the hosts rotating, the Bees have a chance of securing a result.

Prediction: Arsenal 1-1 Brentford
