Arsenal play host to an unbeaten Leeds United as they look to get back to winning ways at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners' final game before the extended international break saw them stumble at Brighton, suffering a 3-0 defeat on the South Coast. Pascal Groß, Charalampos Kostoulas and Chema Andrés all got on the scoresheet to secure a comfortable win for the Seagulls.

Following an international period that has lasted three weeks, Mikel Arteta's welcome Leeds to North London in their first match back and there are three key talking points ahead of what is likely to be an exciting clash.

Three key talking points ahead of Arsenal vs Leeds

Bouncing back is crucial

After their dismal performance at the Amex cost them three points and saw them lose 3-0 to Brighton, Arsenal will know that bouncing back against Leeds is absolutely vital in their defence of the Premier League title.

The Gunners are obviously very capable of doing so and will fancy their chances of snatching the win despite coming up against a Leeds side that has proven to be a stubborn force so far, remaining unbeaten in their first five league games.

Recent results show how good Arteta's side are at bouncing back, having done so expertly last season. Arsenal suffered five league defeats in the 2025/26 campaign, but returned to winning ways after four of those and only suffered back-to-back losses once, falling to Bournemouth and Manchester City in April.

While Leeds will prove to be a tough test, the Gunners should find the win on Saturday.

Front three need to send a statement

Arteta is expected to field a front three of Eberechi Eze, Viktor Gyökeres and Bukayo Saka against Leeds, and all three of those are in dire need of sending a statement with a drastic improvement in their club form.

Eze and Gyökeres both enjoyed their time away with England and Sweden respectively with the former Crystal Palace man playing in three of the Three Lions' four matches while the Gunners' number 14 starred for his nation, scoring in each of his side's four Nations League matches.

Neither player's international form was representative of their club performances however as both have suffered poor starts to the season with Arsenal, failing to make a major impact during their time on the pitch. Due to injuries suffered by Kai Havertz and Christos Tzolis, both are facing runs in the team and need to make the most of their chances, starting against Leeds.

Saka also enjoyed his time away on international duty, scoring twice in three matches for England, adding to the three goals he has scored this season for the Gunners. While he has found the back of the net on club duty, his performances have drawn scrutiny from critics and like his attacking counterparts, he could also do with improving his general displays.

Facing set piece danger

For all of the fuss that was made about Arsenal's set piece brilliance last season, they haven't really lived up to that this time round, failing to net from a dead ball situation yet this term. Their defensive ability from set pieces hasn't been particularly great though and Leeds have looked a threat.

The Gunners have let in two goals from dead balls so far this campaign while the Whites have netted three times from situations, totalling to almost 43% of their goals in the 2026/27 Premier League season.

Arteta's defence is very capable of keeping Leeds at bay and they may very well do that from open play, but it is clear that set pieces are where they could pose the most threat and Arsenal need to be cautious of that, especially knowing they are struggling to score from them this season.
