Arsenal travel to Liverpool on Sunday knowing that a victory against the Champions at Anfield would put a marker down about just how serious this Arsenal title challenge is. And with Manchester City and Newcastle fixtures on the horizon, every three points is vital to maintain the Gunners' early momentum.
Matches between Arsenal and Liverpool have been quite even over the last five matches. Arsenal have won once, the rest have been drawn.
The second of the two Premier League matches in 2024/25 season saw Arsenal claw their way back from 2-0 down in May. Gabriel Martinelli and Mikel Merino both scored at Anfield in May but the title was already firmly in Liverpool's grasp.
Earlier in the season, in October, Liverpool twice came from behind to share the spoils at the Emirates. Bukayo Saka and Merino (who has two goals in two matches against the reds) put Arsenal in front. First, Virgil Van Dijk equalised before Mohamed Salah earned the visitors a point with a late strike.

1. Liverpool 2-2 Arsenal – 11 May 2025 (at Anfield)
- Liverpool: Cody Gakpo (20′), Luis Díaz (21′)
- Arsenal: Gabriel Martinelli (47′), Mikel Merino (70′) Merino was later sent off for a second yellow card
Liverpool, already crowned champions, surged to a quick 2-0 lead within the first 21 minutes thanks to Gakpo and Diaz. Arsenal staged a spirited fightback after half-time.
Martinelli pulled one back just after the break, and Merino equalized from a rebound following an Odegaard effort.
Despite Merino's red card, Arsenal held on for a point.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, making his final appearance, was booed by some fans but almost won the match for Liverpool late on. He was applauded when he left the pitch.
