Another significant weekend in the Premier League title race beckons and a burgeoning rivalry reignites as Arsenal welcome Manchester City to the Emirates.

The Gunners have fought tooth and nail to keep pace with league leaders Liverpool despite suffering from plenty of adversity, and are six points back from the Reds ahead of their daunting trip to Bournemouth.

Arsenal will thus be aiming to pounce upon any slip-up on Saturday, but their task in Sunday will be far from simple.

A woeful run to end 2024 saw City slump out of the title race, and they have little to no shot of claiming a fifth successive league title. However, there have been semblances of a recovery in the new year, and are in a strong position to at least claim a top four spot.

There was no love lost in the reverse fixture back in August, with Mikel Arteta's ten men almost holding the champions at bay in Manchester. John Stones struck at the death to rescue a point for Pep Guardiola's side.

The two teams head into Sunday's clash off the back of Champions League success in the week. While Arsenal confirmed a spot in the round of 16 by beating Girona 2-1, City fought from behind against Club Brugge to scrape into the play-off round.

Here's our preview of Arsenal vs Man City in the Premier League.

Arsenal team news

Arsenal's injury situation hasn't changed since Wednesday, although Ben White is edging closer to a comeback. It won't be long until the right-back is back on the grass.

David Raya travelled with the squad to Girona and isn't thought to be an injury concern for Sunday's game. William Saliba and Jurrien Timber will also return to the Gunners' backline.

Kai Havertz earned a breather in the week and is a sure bet to get the nod up top. Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus are long-term absentees.

Predicted Arsenal lineup vs Man City: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly; Partey, Rice, Odegaard; Martinelli, Havertz, Trossard.

Man City team news

City were without their three summer signings in midweek, and it'd be a surprise to see young centre-back Abdukodir Khusanov in the starting XI after his tough debut last weekend. Omar Marmoush could be involved from the outset, however.

Jeremy Doku is likely to miss out again, while Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake were absent again on Wednesday night. John Stones should be fit to start.

Oscar Bobb is closing in on a return and could be back in the matchday squad this weekend.

Predicted Man City lineup vs Arsenal: Ederson; Lewis, Stones, Akanji, Gvardiol; Kovacic, Bernardo; Foden, De Bruyne, Savinho; Haaland.

Arsenal vs Man City score prediction

This has the makings of a huge contest, even if it isn't a head-to-head shootout for the title. If Liverpool slip up at the Vitality, Arsenal have a great opportunity to swing the momentum back in their favour by securing a statement victory over the champions.

City have shown signs of attacking recovery in recent weeks and a stubborn Arsenal backline has their work cut out if they're to tame the Cityzens on this occasion. However, the visitors remain distinctly vulnerable to the transition, and although the hosts are far from the best team in the division on the counter-attack, I think any team could have success escaping City's counter-press and attacking open space.

Thus, there's scope for Sunday's duel to be more open than previous head-to-head duels. Goals at both ends, with plenty of tension heading into the final 15 minutes.

Prediction: Arsenal 2-2 Man City
