Arsenal turn their attention back to the Premier League as they welcome Manchester City to the Emirates Stadium for a blockbuster clash on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners began their Champions League campaign with a victory last time out as they took a 2-0 victory from Athletic Bilbao. It was the substitutes who made the difference as both Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard scored from the bench to secure the three points late on.
City also started their European season on a positive note with a 2-0 home win over ten-player Napoli. Second-half goals from Erling Haaland and Jeremy Doku ensured Pep Guardiola's side triumphed.
Both Arsenal and City are looking to compete with Liverpool for the league title this season and this matchup will be the latest encounter in a newfound rivalry that has played a huge part in title races over the past few campaigns. Mikel Arteta will be eager for his side to take the three points, but former mentor Guardiola will share those aspirations, meaning this will be another tough test for either team.
Here's our preview of the Gunners' huge clash with Man City.

Arsenal team news
William Saliba returned to the matchday squad for the Champions League game at Athletic Bilbao and despite not coming off the bench, could be brought back into the starting lineup for this test. Cristhian Mosquera has been a brilliant stand-in so far, but the superior ability and experience of Saliba may be needed on Sunday.
Neither Martin Ødegaard or Ben White were included in the squad for the trip to Spain and it appears to be a wait-and-see situation if they return against City. If the pair do make their comeback, it is likely they will start from the bench.
Arteta confirmed Viktor Gyokeres and Mikel Merino will be available after suffering head injuries in the Bilbao clash. However, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz will continue to be absent as they continue their respective recoveries.
Predicted Arsenal lineup vs Manchester City: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; Eze, Zubimendi, Rice; Madueke, Gyokeres, Martinelli
Man City team news
It is likely to be a case of 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' for Guardiola for the trip to Arsenal. He has fielded the same lineup for City's last two games and that has clearly worked as they have taken a 3-0 win in the Manchester derby and a 2-0 victory over Napoli.
Erling Haaland, Jérémy Doku and Phil Foden have been among the goals in their previous two outings so will likely be part of the forward line that starts at the Emirates.
Guardiola was uncertain if Rodri would be available for the tie and could face a fitness test on the day of the game. However, if he is to be involved, he will likely slot back in at the base of City's midfield.
Predicted Manchester City lineup vs Arsenal: Donnarumma; Khusanov, Dias, Gvardiol, O’Reilly; Rodri; Silva, Foden, Reijnders, Doku; Haaland
Arsenal vs Man City score prediction
Both managers and sets of players will know the importance of taking three points from this game. These two teams have formed a rivalry in recent seasons and both find themselves in good form, but that won't come into account on Sunday. This will be an on-the-day occasion.
Arsenal will fancy their chances as they boast the home advantage as well enjoying a five-game unbeaten run against a side they previously found it very difficult to get the better of. However, despite being a different side to recent years, City will still be able to cause the problems they have in past times.
Viktor Gyokeres and Erling Haaland have enjoyed good starts to the season so their output could be key in deciding who secures the win. However, the Gunners arguably boast the better defence and that could be the crucial factor in separating the two sides in what will be a very tight affair.
Arteta's side will know the challenge they face, but they should be able to edge City in this blockbuster clash.
