The reigning Premier League champions came to the Emirates and promptly got turned over in what the BBC dubbed 'a statement victory.'
Between them, the two sides could muster only three shots on target - two for Arsenal and just one for the visitors.
Although the match was a drab affair, Gabriel Martinelli lit up the Emirates with a late goal that flew in off the unfortunate Nathan Ake.
Martenilli was returning from a hamstring injury and his late cameo sent Arszenal to the top of the league, level on points with their North London rivals.
