Arsenal take on Premier League rivals Newcastle on Sunday as they look to continue their winning start to pre-season.

The Gunners began their preparations with a victory when they defeated AC Milan 1-0 earlier in the week. Bukayo Saka was the difference maker, beating Rossoneri 'keeper Pietro Terracciano with a scuffed effort early in the second half. Despite the result, there was a penalty shootout at full-time which Mikel Arteta's side lost even after debutant Kepa Arrizabalaga made three saves.

Newcastle started their pre-season campaign positively, convincingly beating Carlisle United 4-0. However, they fell to a defeat at the hands of Celtic, who were victorious by the same scoreline a week ago in Scotland.

Both sides will be looking for a victory on Sunday. Arsenal will be eager to continue their winning form while the Magpies will be in search of a bounce back from a very disappointing result.

Here's our preview of Arsenal's pre-season test against Newcastle.

Arsenal team news

Arsenal will continue to be without Gabriel Magalhaes and Jurrien Timber, who both missed the win against AC Milan and an open training session on Friday. The pair are expected to return from their respective injuries over the next week.

New signing Cristhian Mosquera could make his Gunners debut after his move from Valencia was officially confirmed earlier in the week.

Christian Norgaard is likely to start once again after he was involved in media duty with manager Mikel Arteta yesterday. Fellow new signing Kepa Arrizabalaga could also begin the game after he impressed in the penalty shootout against Milan, saving three spot kicks.

Newcastle team news

Newcastle will be without Alexander Isak, who has not travelled to Asia with his future on Tyneside currently in doubt. His absence will be welcomed by Arsenal as he has caused them plenty of problems in recent years. Youngster Will Osula is their only striker on the tour.

Martin Dubravka also hasn't travelled, but Lewis Hall could be involved after he missed the end of last season with a broken foot. New signing Anthony Elanga could start while big names such as Bruno Guimaraes and Nick Pope will likely be involved.

Arsenal vs Newcastle score prediction

Both sides will be desperate for a win. Arsenal will want to continue what they started with their victory over AC Milan while Newcastle will be looking to put that dismal defeat to Celtic far behind them.

Mikel Arteta should be hoping his side can exploit their opponents' lack of a confident and proven striker. With the Magpies missing their most important player, the Gunners should be taking the win in this one.

It won't be a walkover for Arsenal, but they should be able to secure a decent result against a side that will be looking to pose more problems next season. Newcastle will provide a tough test, but Arteta's side will come away with the win.

Prediction: Arsenal 3-1 Newcastle
