Arsenal complete their round of 16 tie with PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday night having notched a record-breaking victory in the first leg.

The Gunners ran riot in Eindhoven last week, taking full advantage of a PSV team that sought to defend aggressively but without any conviction. Mikel Arteta's side ruthlessly exploited the out-of-sorts Dutch side and were impressively efficient in front of goal in their 7-1 rout.

Arsenal, however, returned to type at the weekend as they struggled to break down a disciplined Manchester United defence. In the end, they were perhaps fortunate to escape Old Trafford with a point after Declan Rice cancelled out Bruno Fernandes' opener. In case you weren't aware, the Premier League title is gone. Europe is Arteta's saving grace.

PSV are merely on the hunt for a bit of respectability on Wednesday night. This tie is over, but the Dutch outfit won't want to succumb to another battering. Last Tuesday's defeat was nothing short of humiliating, but they did respond by winning in the Eredivisie on Saturday. Bosz's side continued to trail a red-hot Ajax outfit at the summit, however.

Here's our preview of Arsenal vs PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.

Arsenal team news

Given Arsenal's huge advantage in the tie, we should expect to see some rotation from the weekend's starting XI. I'd expect the likes of Ben White, Jakub Kiwior, Jorginho, and Raheem Sterling to all earn starts on Wednesday.

There could be respite for Gabriel at centre-back, ending a lengthy run in the team, while Declan Rice may also receive a rest after scoring on Sunday. Mikel Merino could get a chance in the middle of the park after his recent adventures up top.

Gabriel Martinelli returned from a hamstring injury at the weekend and played 30 minutes off the bench. He could get an hour under his belt in north London ahead of Chelsea's visit on Sunday.

Predicted Arsenal lineup vs PSV: Raya; White, Saliba, Kiwior, Lewis-Skelly; Jorginho, Merino, Nwaneri; Martinelli, Trossard, Sterling.

PSV team news

Sergino Dest appeared off the bench for PSV in their win over Heerenveen on Saturday after an 11-month absence. The USMNT star had played a key role for Peter Bosz's side last season before he tore his ACL.

The visitors are once again without influential pair Malik Tillman and Ricardo Pepi, while Esmir Bajraktarevic is also sidelined.

Johan Bakayoko could replace Ivan Perisic down the right. Joey Veerman dropped to the bench at the weekend with Tyrell Malacia.

Predicted PSV lineup vs Arsenal: Benitez; Ledezma, Flamingo, Boscagli, Junior; Veerman, Schouten; Bakayoko, Saibari, Lang; De Jong.

Arsenal vs PSV Eindhoven prediction

The underlying figures suggested last week's result in Eindhoven was somewhat harsh on PSV, although Arsenal doubtlessly benefitted from their willingness to fight fire with fire. Bosz is unlikely to change in the second leg, but PSV will surely face up against a rotated Gunners outfit boasting less security throughout its core.

Thus, I expect a more competitive contest to play out at the Emirates. The tie is over. Arsenal aren't playing for all that much, and PSV will want to restore a bit of pride.

This game will pass me by like it never happened.

Prediction: Arsenal 2-1 PSV Eindhoven
