Jurrien Timber will miss Arsenal's trip to Brighton through suspension having picked up his fifth yellow card of the Premier League season against Brentford.

The right-back was booked early on in proceedings for a late challenge on the Bees' left-back Keane Lewis-Potter.

With the Gunners' game at Brentford being the 19th of their league campaign, Timber's booking arrived in the last match before the number of yellow cards required for a suspension increases to ten. Gabriel Jesus was also walking the tightrope on New Year's Day, but he avoided a booking and instead set Arsenal on their way to a 3-1 victory at the Gtech.

Jurrien Timber's suspension and resulting unavailability is another huge blow to Mikel Arteta, who is already in short supply of full back options.

Ben White remains absent for Arsenal as he recovers from surgery and is not expected to make a return anytime soon. Takehiro Tomiyasu continues to be unavailable for selection as he battles a knee problem.

It leaves Arteta without a senior right-back option for the trip to Brighton, meaning he may have to get creative with his decisions. Thomas Partey has started at right-back on multiple occasions this season and despite this affecting the team's setup, he would seem to be the best stand-in option.

We'll likely see Partey match up against Kaoru Mitoma down Brighton's left while Declan Rice will start at the base of midfield. The Ghanaian's performance one-on-one against Luis Diaz should offer supporters some comfort heading into Saturday's duel, and Partey will also be covered by the imperious William Saliba if dribbling student Mitoma does befuddle the makeshift defender.

While Timber will be missed for what will likely be a tough clash against Brighton, Arteta and his side's fans will be glad the absence isn't a lengthy one. The Dutchman will be back in action for the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Newcastle next Tuesday.
