Can Arsenal claim victory from their final WSL home game of the season? The Gunners did win the inaugural FIFA Women's Champions Cup in February, but won't add any other silverware to their cabinet, after crashing out of the Champions League at the semi-final stage against Lyon earlier this month. Nevertheless, Renée Slegers' side still have plenty to play for to ensure they reach next year's league phase.

On Saturday lunchtime, the Gunners swatted aside Aston Villa 3-0 at Villa Park, with Alessia Russo bagging a brace, while Frida Maanum also netted in the Midlands. This extends Arsenal's unbeaten streak to 15 WSL matches, their sole defeat all season coming against champions Manchester City in October. As a result, Slegers' side have cemented Champions League qualification, but the job is not done yet.

Arsenal are currently third, one point below Chelsea with this as their game in hand, and a goal difference that is +13 superior. The WSL runners-up go straight into the competition's league phase, while third place would face a two-legged qualifier in August and September. That is something the Gunners would very much like to avoid, thereby aiming to win this one and then beat Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday, which would be enough to guarantee second place.

As for Everton, how difficult opposition will they be? The Toffees are currently eighth in the WSL table, exactly where they finished in both of the last two seasons, having been as high as fifth in 2021. Manager Brian Sørensen was sacked in February, with interim boss Scott Phelan winning his first three matches in charge, albeit they come into this one following three consecutive defeats.

Last time out, a whopping 17 days ago now, Everton were demolished 4-1 by Chelsea at Goodison, despite the fact Yūka Momiki equalised early on. On the final day, the Toffees will welcome bottom side Leicester City to Merseyside, so will be confident of ending the campaign on a high, but it would be a major surprise if Everton picked up anything in North London.

Arsenal team news

This will be Beth Mead's final home appearance for Arsenal, after announcing on Monday that she will leave the club she joined nine years ago. Despite this, she could begin the night on the bench, with Stina Blackstenius and Chloe Kelly also hoping to come into a forward line that features Olivia Smith and Alessia Russo.

Elsewhere, Slegers switched to a back five at Villa Park, with Taylor Hinds and in form Smilla Holmberg as wing-backs. Leah Williamson remains a doubt, so Lotte Wubben-Moy will continue alongside Laia Codina at the back.

Predicted Arsenal lineup vs Everton: van Domselaar; Holmberg, Wubben-Moy, Codina, Hinds; Little, Caldentey; Smith, Blackstenius, Kelly, Russo.

Everton team news

After two and a half weeks without a game, Everton will certainly be well-rested. Ornella Vignola, Hikaru Kitagawa and Kelly Gago are the Toffees' joint-top scorers in the WSL this season with four, with the latter set to partner Yūka Momiki in attack.

Laila Harbert, who is on loan from Arsenal, is ineligible to feature.

Predicted Everton lineup vs Arsenal: Brosnan; Blundell, Fernández, Stenevik, Pacheco; Galli, Wheeler, Payne, Vignola; Momiki, Gago.

Arsenal vs Everton score prediction

Arsenal are likely to be far too strong for Everton on Wednesday night. The Gunners were 3-1 winners at Goodison just before Christmas, one of six occasions the Blues have shipped three or more goals in a WSL match this season, including doing so in both of their last two outings.

As for Renée Slegers' team, they remain unbeaten at the Emirates this season, winning ten of 13 matches, scoring 35 goals and conceding only ten, a trend that's likely to continue.

Prediction: Arsenal 3-0 Everton
