Arsenal's summer signing Piero Hincapie has given Mikel Arteta a selection headache before he has even played a single minute for his new side.
The versatile defender played at left back in Ecuador's 1-0 victory over Argentina as they saw out their World Cup qualifying campaign to finish second in the CONMEBOL standings.
Upon his arrival in north London, there has been some uncertainty over how he will fit into the squad and while that remains, his recent performance for his country has provided Arteta with somewhat of a dilemma.
Piero Hincapie gives Mikel Arteta selection headache

Hincapie regularly played as a centre back for Bayer Leverkusen and also Ecuador, but is capable of playing on the left side of defence and did so in the 1-0 win over Argentina.
That is where he impressed against the world champions and he continued his good run of defensive form in the victory. It was the 13th clean sheet the Tricolours had kept in their 18-game qualifying campaign and Hincapie had started 12 of those matches.
His defensive capabilities are abundantly clear, but that doesn't remove any uncertainty over where he will start for Arsenal. However, his recent performance has made a great case for him to compete at left back rather than play second fiddle to Gabriel Magalhaes.
Playing the full 90 minutes, Hincapie made three clearances, two tackles and one interception, as well as winning two out of five ground duels and two out of three aerial duels.
Gunners fans will have loved one of his successful ground duels as it completely riled up a rival player. He stood over youngster Franco Mastantuono after winning a goal kick following a tackle, but Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister wasn't a fan of his actions. He squared up to the Ecuadorian, but it was Hincapie who had the last laugh as the final whistle blew moments later to condemn Argentina to defeat.
Regardless of those actions, he has shown he is a very talented player and has provided Arteta with a selection headache as a result. Once he has fully adapted to the Premier League, he will be more than capable of playing at left back.
Riccardo Calafiori has had an excellent start to the season and has managed to keep his place over Myles Lewis-Skelly. There is no reason for him to be dropped just yet, but Arteta has to at least consider starting Hincapie.
The Ecuador international has proven himself in the position, has clear passion for defending and also boasts a far more reliable fitness record than his Italian counterpart. Arteta may not throw Hincapie straight in the deep end, but he has certainly been given something to think about.
