Arsene Wenger throws in subtle Tottenham dig when analysing Harry Kane
By Kian Long
Arsene Wenger is the professor of football. However, he does have a comedic side. He showed that, with his subtle Harry Kane-related Tottenham dig recently.
Harry Kane's career can be looked at in one of two ways. Either, he can be admired for sticking to one club for so long or he can be looked at apologetically for not winning any trophies.
Unfortunately, we do not live in a footballing age where being a one-club man is desirable. Instead, legacies are based on trophies won these days. If trophies can be won at one club, then great, but this is not the case with Tottenham Hotspur.
So, when asked to compare Kai Havertz to Harry Kane, Arsene Wenger had to remind the media of this fact.

Arsene Wenger was asked if he would rather have Kai Havertz or Harry Kane. To which, he addressed the merits of both players and how they could operate in different systems. He stated that Kane is a better goal-scorer, whereas Havertz is more of a contributor.
In his own words, Arsene Wenger said: "That depends on the way you want to defend or the way you want to play. Havertz is more of a contributor to the all around game, defensively he works very hard, offensively he scores less goals than Kane and will never score the number of goals Kane scores. He’s more of a 10-and-a-half or a nine-and-a-half."
The comment which sticks to Arsenal fans most, though, is when Arsene Wenger said: "Kane is the centre forward. Harry Kane played for a long time in a team that didn’t win but they have not won since he has left."
Arsene Wenger did have a slight smile on his face when he said this. Of course, he remained professional, but Arsenal fans would love to imagine that the subtle dig was intended.
Of course, it is unjust to compare Kai Havertz and Harry Kane on their ability. Even Arsenal fans can admit this. However, one comparison which can be made is Havertz being a natural winner and Kane being the opposite.
So, while Tottenham fans might not like Arsene Wenger bringing up Harry Kane's lack of silverware, it is impossible to analyse him without at least addressing this.
