Arsenal was soundly beaten again by Newcastle, with the Magpies advancing to the Carabao Cup final.
After the 2-0 defeat in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi final, Arsenal knew the task at hand in the reutrn leg at St. James' Park.
But they didn't heed the warnings.
In the first leg, chance after chance went begging, while Newcastle was clinical in front of goal, and the Gunners couldn't afford to repeat the same mistakes in the second leg.
But they did.
After being lucky that Alexander Isak's goal was ruled out for offside in the opening minutes, with just 18 minutes gone, the ball fell to Martin Odegaard in the box, with the goal at the captain's mercy. A chance to get back into the tie and quieten the home crowd had come.
And once again it was squandered with Odegaard's shot hitting the upright and then a mere minute later, James Murphy scored to end the game as a contest with the Magpies now 3-0 on aggregate.
Is has been a consistent theme for the Gunners all year with the lack of a quality centre forward to tuck away the host of chances, and now it all seems to be coming to the surface and being knocked out of the Carabao Cup will sting, but so will knowing that it was partly their own doing as the lack of genuine finisher has hurt Arsenal again.
The club will need to sort out this issue quickly before it becomes the sole reason why they look to track down Liverpool for the Premier League title, which right now, it could easily do. But who has their shooting boots on? No one.

Now, the Gunners will get a 10-day break to recharge the batteries and with Gabriel Martinelli's hamstring injury, the break has come at the perfect time.
With the fixture list now easing, as Arsenal will now play three games in the next 21 days as opposed to one game every three days, but that will be little consolation right now.
Newcastle showed the Gunners a clean pair of heels in both games and proved how crucial it is to take your chances and in truth, this tie will be remembered as the Alexander Isak tie with the striker tormenting Arsenal's backline.
Missed chances were again a theme as another trophy opportunity has come and gone for Arsenal.
