Arsenal secured a crucial point in the Champions League as they drew 2-2 with Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.

Mikel Arteta made two changes to the side that defeated Nottingham Forest 1-0 last time out. Sunday's match winner Noni Madueke came into the starting lineup for Eberechi Eze while Jurrien Timber replaced Ben White at right back.

Disaster struck for the Gunners after just 10 minutes when Bukayo Saka went down injured off the ball which forced his manager to bring him off and replace him with Eze, who swapped with Madueke to move over to the left flank.

Bayern saw the first chance of the game come their way when Serge Gnabry picked the ball on the right side of the box and sent a low effort towards the far post, but David Raya got down well to save it.

Despite that scare, Arsenal were the ones to break the deadlock through Eze's strike. Martin Ødegaard played a beautiful pass for the substitute to latch on to and beat Manuel Neuer with a volleyed effort from the left side of the box. The offside flag initially went up, but VAR overruled to ensure the goal stood.

The hosts showed their class to equalise 10 minutes later as Harry Kane's perfectly executed pass found Alphonso Davies past Timber for the Canadian to beat Raya with a well-taken low effort and ensure his side went into the break level.

Neuer came to his side's rescue moments after the break when Declan Rice's corner delivery reached Bruno Guimarães at the back post for him to head towards goal with it looking destined for the back of the net. However, the Bayern 'keeper reacted outstandingly to stop it going all the way over the line, turning it up on to the crossbar and away.

It was then Raya's turn to make a stunning save when he got across swiftly to deny Dayot Upamecano, who rose well to head down at the back post, only to be denied by the Spaniard.

Bayern were awarded a penalty just before the hour when Kane's strike from close range was blocked by Timber's arm, prompting the referee to point to the spot. The England captain stepped up and calmly converted from 12 yards to put his side in front.

Arsenal levelled things up with just under 10 minutes left to play and it came through a sublime team move. Rice started the sequence and made a darting run down the right side of the box to receive the ball back from substitute Viktor Gyökeres and fire past Neuer into the bottom corner from a tight angle.

That proved crucial for the Gunners as it ensured they took a point back to North London from Germany, as well as maintaining their unbeaten start to the league phase of the Champions League.

Here are the Arsenal player ratings from their 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich 2-2 Arsenal player ratings

Goalkeeper & Defenders

David Raya (GK) - 6.5/10 - Did brilliantly to get down and save a low effort from Gnabry. Couldn't keep out Davies' equaliser, but did deny Upamecano a headed goal with a stretched hand. Went the wrong way for Kane's spot kick.

Jurrien Timber (RB) - 6.5/10 - Beaten by Davies to Kane's pass for the equaliser. Conceded a penalty after handballing in an attempted block. Improved as the game went on, but wasn't his best night. Denied a stunner by Neuer late on.

Ezri Konsa (CB) - 6.5/10 - Beaten by Upamecano for him to head an effort towards goal. Steady otherwise.

Gabriel (CB) - 7/10 - Did well to keep up with a racing Davies and make a good sliding challenge in the box. The better of the central pair throughout the tie.

Riccardo Calafiori (LB) - 7/10 - Really unlucky to not convert from Laimer's flick-on as it just went the wrong side of the post. Looked to get involved in attack once again and was steady defensively, but did offer Gnabry a bit too much space at times.

Midfielders

Bruno Guimarães (CM) - 7/10 - Denied a header from a corner by a miraculous save by Neuer. Pretty solid in midfield before being taken off after just under 70 minutes.

Declan Rice (CM) - 7.5/10 - Put in some good corner deliveries, including one for Guimarães to meet with a headed attempt. Ended a brilliant team move with a fine finish from a tight angle to beat Neuer and equalise.

Martin Ødegaard (AM) - 7/10 - Teed up Eze's opening strike with a brilliant ball through for him to collect. Caused problems with a second-half free kick delivery, but nothing came of it. Replaced in the late stages.

Forwards

Bukayo Saka (RW) - N/A - Really unfortunate to be forced off with an injury after just 10 minutes.

Kai Havertz (ST) - 6.5/10 - Picked up an early yellow card for fouling Stanišić. Almost had an assist when he teed up Eze, but the winger took too long with his shot and was denied. Withdrawn with just over 20 minutes remaining.

Noni Madueke (LW) - 7/10 - Switched to the right 10 minutes into the game. Played a good flick to Timber in an attacking move and also got away from Davies under pressure in his own half.
