The best and worst player as Arsenal held to 1-1 stalemate against Fulham
By Kian Long
After taking some time to reflect on Arsenal's performance against Fulham at the weekend, here are the best and worst players from the 1-1 draw.
Arsenal dropped two points at Craven Cottage. It could have been worse, as the Gunners found themselves a goal-down inside the opening stages of the game.
Mikel Arteta's team unsurprisingly scored an equalising goal through a set-piece, with William Saliba scoring for the second game on the bounce.
Bukayo Saka thought that he scored the winning goal late in the game. However, courtesy of everyone's favourite villain VAR, the goal was ruled out on offside grounds.
The best and worst player as from Fulham 1-1 Arsenal
William Saliba (best player)
Reflected in our player ratings, William Saliba was Arsenal's standout player. It wasn't just his goal which elevated him on a pedestal, as his defensive duties were met incredibly well.
Saliba has had to up his importance in the last two games, with Gabriel Magalhaes ruled out of both through injury. Unsurprisingly, then, he has been incredible in both boxes.
William Saliba has been with Arsenal for half a decade now but this is only his third season playing consistent football in the first team. You wouldn't think it, as he's become Arsenal's most important player by a country mile.
Leandro Trossard (worst player)
Playing on the left flank for Arsenal immediately puts any player at a disadvantage. This is because, evidently, Bukayo Saka is one of the most influential players at Arsenal, so a lot of the play runs through the right flank.
However, fans were quick to notice that Trossard didn't do much to provide his own threat on the left flank. Unfortunately, this has been a pretty common tale this season - If it's not Trossard, it's Martinelli who disappoints.
In our player ratings, Leandro Trossard was rated the worst, at 5/10. It might seem harsh to give a Premier League and international player an average rating but Trossard did absolutely nothing to justify a higher rating.
There's a reason why he was ejected at the hour-mark, after all.
