Mikel Arteta's Arsenal produced their worst performance of the season and were soundly beaten by Bournemouth 2-0 on Saturday evening.

The Gunners never got out of first gear and were once again at a man disadvantage as the Cherries secured a deserved three points.

William Saliba was sent off in the first half for the visitors and the home side eventually capitalised as they struck twice within nine second-half minutes to inflict the first defeat of the season upon Arteta's side. Ryan Christie converted a slick corner routine to give Bournemouth the lead before Justin Kluivert made no mistake from the penalty spot after David Raya had brought down Evanilson.

Arsenal have the opportunity to bounce back swiflty as Shakhtar Donetsk visit the Emirates before Liverpool are welcomed to north London next Sunday.

Here are three takeaways from Arsenal's first loss of the season.

1. Another game, another red card for the Gunners

Do Arsenal have a disciplinary problem? We have to say yes because Saliba's red card was the Gunners' third in eight Premier League games.

That isn't ideal, and it has put the team on the backfoot too often and considering that the Gunners are in the title race, they can ill-afford any slip-ups and they have a bad habit of shooting themselves in the foot.

Now they have to face Liverpool without best defender. Yikes.
