Bukayo Saka's match winning goal against Atletico Madrid saw him quietly enter the Mount Rushmore of English players in the Champions League.

The winger found the back of the net against Rojiblancos to send his side through to just their second ever final in Europe's premier competition, and their first in 20 years.

His strike from close range meant Saka has now joined elite company as one of only four players to score in more than one Champions League semi-final.

Saka is now the fourth player to score in more than one Champions League semi-final, joining Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard and Harry Kane in having done so.

Having struck in the 2-1 second leg defeat at Paris Saint-Germain, the Arsenal winger added to his last four tally with another effort against Atletico.

Rooney found the back of the net three times in semi-finals, netting a brace against AC Milan in 2007, failing to prevent a 5-2 aggregate defeat before adding another to his tally with a strike against Schalke in 2011 on the way to losing to Barcelona in the final.

Lampard shares the same amount of semi-final goals as Saka, despite playing in 14 last four legs during his time at Chelsea. He struck in a 2-2 draw with Monaco in 2004 as the Blues failed to overturn a 3-1 deficit to reach the final. He then found the net again when he struck a crucial goal in extra-time against Liverpool in 2008.

Former North London rival Kane was the latest Englishman to achieve the feat before Saka, scoring three times for Bayern Munich. His first leg goal in 2024 wasn't enough to prevent defeat to eventual champions Real Madrid while his strikes in either leg against Arsenal's final opponents PSG were also not enough to help his side into the final.

Saka joining such an elite group of English players is certainly a great individual achievement for him to add to his many solo records he already boasts at 24-years-old. However, he will be hoping he can go one step further now and, just as Rooney and Lampard, did put his name on an even more impressive list of champions by helping his boyhood club win their first ever Champions League title.
