Chelsea vs Arsenal: Preview, Prediction & Lineups
- Arsenal visit Chelsea in a huge London derby on Sunday
- Gunners need three points after recent slide
- Blues sit above their London rivals on goal difference in the Premier League table
Arsenal will be looking to end their recent slump when they take on Chelsea in a huge London derby on Sunday afternoon.
This is a huge game for Mikel Arteta and his side off the back of back-to-back losses. Their performance in Milan on Wednesday was far from poor, but it arrived at a bad time given the manner of last weekend's sorry defeat at Newcastle.
The Gunners are seven points adrift of league leaders Liverpool heading into this one, and the Reds' advantage will extend to ten if they beat Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday night.
Arteta is facing up against another former Manchester City assistant, Enzo Maresca, for the first time in west London, with the Chelsea boss overseeing a decent start to his tenure with the Blues. Sunday's hosts currently sit above Arsenal in the Premier League table on goal difference, but we've so far seen Maresca's side drop points against the league's best - Manchester United notwithstanding.
The Gunners have turned to Chelsea for ignition in the past off the back of unproductive periods of form, and Arteta will hope the Blues come up trumps for his side on Sunday. Here's our preview of Chelsea vs Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend.

Chelsea vs Arsenal head to head record
Arsenal have loved their battles with Chelsea as of late, and they head into this one five games unbeaten against the Blues. Thomas Tuchel was the man in charge the last time Sunday's hosts beat the north Londoners.
Chelsea really should've ended their winless run against Arsenal at the Bridge last season as they raced into a 2-0 lead, but a Robert Sanchez error let the visitors back into the game and Leandro Trossard restored parity. It wasn't much of a contest the last time these two sides faced off back in April.

Chelsea team news
Cole Palmer is an injury doubt for the hosts after he was caught on the knee by Lisandro Martinez late on in Chelsea's draw at United last Sunday. He has been included in the England squad, though, which would suggest he will be okay to play against the Gunners.
Jadon Sancho is eligible to return to the matchday squad after missing the trip to Old Trafford, but Maresca may stick with Pedro Neto down the left flank.
Omari Kellyman is Chelsea's other injury concern, but he was never going to be considered by Maresca here anyway.
Predicted Chelsea lineup vs Arsenal: Sanchez; James, Fofana, Colwill, Cucurella; Lavia, Caicedo; Madueke, Palmer, Neto; Jackson.
Arsenal team news
Declan Rice reportedly broke his toe last weekend at Newcastle which is why he didn't travel to Milan in midweek. However, the midfielder is said to be prepared to play through the pain so he can start in west London on Sunday.
Martin Odegaard made his first appearance since the start of September on Wednesday, but he might not yet be ready for a return to the starting XI. Mikel Merino could continue in the team as a result.
Takehiro Tomiyasu, Kieran Tierney, and Riccardo Calafiori will all return to action after the international break.
Predicted Arsenal lineup vs Chelsea: Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Timber; Partey, Merino, Rice; Saka, Havertz, Martinelli.
Chelsea vs Arsenal score prediction
We've been here before. Arsenal have oddly faced Chelsea on numerous occasions off the back of poor runs of form under Arteta, and they've typically found a way to pull a result out of the bag. I think they're going to do it again here.
While I've been relatively impressed with Maresca at the start of his reign, Chelsea still have plenty of growing to do and they haven't been able to produce the big moment on the big occasion so far this season.
With Arsenal feeling positive about their performance on Wednesday despite tasting defeat, they may be on course to enjoy another bounce-back game against the Blues.
