Arsenal are poised to complete no signings in the January transfer window with the deadline edging closer.
There'd been an expectation after Bukayo Saka tore his hamstring and Gabriel Jesus butchered his knee that the club would appease Mikel Arteta and make the additions in attack he's been clamouring for not-so-subtly in press conferences.
There have been links, tenuous and strong, to plenty of names. Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko, Ollie Watkins and Nico Williams are just some of the players the Gunners' have supposedly explored moves for, yet it seems as if Arteta will be working with the same group of players for the remainder of 2024/25.
Are they leaving themselves short?
David Ornstein suggests Arsenal 'unlikely' to make Deadline Day signing

A couple of cryptic 'ITK' posts got the online fanbase excited heading into Deadline Day, with one user suggesting the move would "break the internet" if Arsenal were able to pull it off. A bit of reply-digging and it became clear that all they were talking about was Athletic Club's Williams.
These insiders suggested the Euro 2024 winner had opened the door to a late move, but the deal would only happen if Arsenal paid up. Williams' release clause and sky-high wages have been the primary issues all along. In short, this was no major update.
We've seen Mathys Tel board a plane to England but with the wrong half of north London his intended destination and Watkins dap up Marcus Rashford upon his Aston Villa arrival. Arsenal, it seems, have opted against merely bringing in a body to boost Arteta's options in attack.
🚨BREAKING: @David_Ornstein on if Arsenal will do any transfer business today: “Not to my knowledge.” ❌😔 pic.twitter.com/wd6iRjYWvg

A David Ornstein bomba was all many of us wanted today, but we were instead presented with a dagger just hours before the deadline. When asked on The Athletic's live stream (via Daily AFC) whether Arsenal would conduct any business on Deadline Day, he hit us with: "Not to my knowledge."
Ouch.
With the clock ticking, we can say with some degree of certainty that no one will be coming in. This was a situation very few of us would play out a couple of weeks ago. We assumed that Arteta would have a shiny new toy (or two) to play with, but that's not going to be the case. We're playing with fire down the stretch and waiting for Saka to hit the ground running off the back of a hamstring tear.
Gross negligence?
