Arsenal have began talks with Crystal Palace to sign Eberechi Eze following Kai Havertz's knee injury, according to the Athletic's David Ornstein.
The Eagles star was on course to join Tottenham with lengthy negotiations between Daniel Levy and Steve Parish taking place over the past weeks. Spurs had reached a verbal agreement with their south London counterparts, but Eze is expected to choose a move to the Gunners.
Mikel Arteta's side are willing to meet the same offer their north London rivals made for the midfielder and are hopeful they can strike a deal.

Arsenal had shown interest in Eze earlier this summer and looked to be the favourites to sign him, but this grew quiet in recent weeks, allowing Spurs to swoop in and strike a deal.
However, following today's reports the Gunners were exploring attacking options due to Havertz's injury, they have re-entered negotiations for the Palace star and multiple outlets claim they are once again the preferred side to secure his signature.
Fabrizio Romano revealed Arteta's side have offered a £60million package for Eze, with add-ons that are easier to achieve than those proposed by Spurs. He added that Arsenal are convinced the attacker wants to join them with his boyhood support and previous time in the club's academy a strong factor.
Fans had began to grow disappointed with Eze's potential move to Tottenham and that prompted them to complain about the Gunners' lack of business in the late stages of the transfer window (despite making six signings earlier this summer).
Those complaints will have now been eradicated though with Arsenal's chances of signing Eze looking very promising.
Of course, a deal isn't done just yet and there could be a long way to go in negotiations, but with Eze expected to prefer a move to the red half of north London and the Gunners ready to match the conditions of a deal, fans can definitely be excited.
Havertz's injury was cause for concern, but the addition of Eze should ensure Arsenal's squad depth isn't severely affected if the German's issue is long-term. He could be appearing in the Gunners' famous red-and-white very soon.
