Declan Rice only has respect for what Mikel Arteta has done for Arsenal as well as for him, he revealed in a recent interview at the PFA ceremony.
Arteta, compared to what he had to pick up when he first started at Arsenal, has completely changed the standards at the football club.
They have gone from a club that used to consistently be out of the title race every year, and are now the absolute standard for any football club in England.
They won the league last year, and look set to do the same again with a group of players that seems very, very hard to beat.
A lot of this is because of Arteta, for whom Rice had the absolute highest of praises.
He said: "[He’s been] incredible from the moment I met him. What he's done for me, for this club, I can only speak so highly of him. He fully deserves it, and it's because of him that we won it.”

For a leader to talk so candidly about his manager, it says a lot about the kind of manager Arteta is and the brilliant job he has done at the club.
After Arsene Wenger left Arsenal, there was a gaping hole at the club that no one could really fill. Unai Emery tried his best, but his reign at the club was quickly over, because of the lack of success as well as the lack of direction.
Arteta came through shortly after, and fixed everything from the ground up. He made sure that a project started taking place at the Emirates. He made sure that the standards of the football club were as high for those working at the top level as they were for the Spanish manager, and slowly, but surely, the rest of the Premier League started to take notice.
In just a few years’ time, Arteta’s Arsenal were back challenging for the biggest trophies in England, and last season, they finally achieved what they had spent more than 20 years trying to get to, and a lot of that credit goes to Arteta for building things – including the mentality of his group – from scratch.
When Rice arrived, Arteta’s Arsenal were already challenging for the league titles, but the manager realised the kind of players they need – both mentally and from a footballing standpoint – to win the league. Rice was one of them, and he quickly became one of the leaders of the squad.
Fast forward to now – Arsenal are the best team in the league, as well as one of the very best teams in Europe, and they will only continue to get better.
