Both Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard suffered injuries in the 5-0 win over Leeds, but did the club catch a break?

There wasn't much to complain about in Arsenal's 5-0 thumping of Leeds at the Emirates, which put the Gunners top of the league, but one thing that did put a serious dent in the confidence was the injuries to Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard.

Whoever has that Arsenal voodoo doll needs to stop right now.

Odegaard suffered a shoulder injury and was withdrawn before half-time, while Saka suffered a hamstring injury and had to be taken off early in the second-half.

Given the Gunners have Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, Manchester City, and Newcastle to come, the club could find themselves in serious trouble if the duo are out for those fixtures, which we thought was a distinct possibility.

Gunners catch huge break on injured duo

Given how long Saka missed last season when he suffered a hamstring injury, there were grave concerns that No. 7 would be set for a stint on the sidelines just as the Gunners were getting some momentum.

Odegaard and his shoulder wasn't as high profile as Saka's hamstring, but without both, the Gunners would look like a completely different team.

But Mikel Arteta and the Gunners might have just caught a huge break.

Per the BBC, the injuries to the pair aren't thought to be long-term ones.

Cue a collective sigh of relief.

While there are still some tests for the pair to undergo later this week to determine how much time (if any?) they could miss, the fact that we don't think they are set for a long period on the sidelines is certainly positive.

With the Gunners winning both Premier League games, no doubt Arteta will want to keep that going against Liverpool, but now that looks like a tall order for Arsenal if it is without Odegaard and Saka.

Noni Madueke, Gabriel Martinelli, Ethan Nwaneri, and Leandro Trossard are all now in the mix to come into the side, so the Gunners' depth looks a little better than it did last year.

But the real story here is that Arsenal might have just dodged a serious bullet on the injury front.
