Arsenal's midfielder, Eberechi Eze, talked about Declan Rice's mentality and how it rubbed off on the rest of the group in a recent interview.
There were many points in Arsenal's title-winning season last time around where they dropped points where they shouldn't have, and the fear around the club was that they would slowly succumb to the pressure and start losing more and more games and ultimately lose the stranglehold they had on the league title.
However, that did not end up happening, and a lot of that was because of the mentality of certain players in the squad.
One of those players is Rice, who has already shown that he's a mentality monster. He's already shown that he is a serial winner and wants to win every single title with Arsenal.
He is proper captain material for the club, and Eze was asked about the time when Rice was famously recorded saying, "It's not done" to Martin Ødegaard after a tough loss to Manchester City.
Eberechi Eze just revealed exactly the kind of leader Declan Rice is at Arsenal
Eze talked about how that inspired the rest of the group and how much it meant for them to hear something like that from Rice.
"Having him speak like that and then going to the changing room and seeing the energy at that time. It was a confidence of 'We're going to do it'. The performance was what we expected and wanted, but the result wasn't.
"Dec's perspective and mentality definitely rubbed off on a lot of players and inspired us."
Obviously, defeats happen, draws happen, you drop points where you probably shouldn't - but the best way to put that away is to come back and win the next game.
Arsenal didn't perform particularly well in some of the games and won, and there were games where they performed really well and lost. But that's why you need leaders like Rice in your squad - to be able to give the group the words they need to hear.
It would be really difficult, even for teams like Arsenal, to challenge for titles consistently if the leadership in the squad wasn't as strong as it is now.
The group has gone through a lot together, and Rice also has some experience of winning titles prior to joining Arsenal. That in itself is really important, and it definitely rubs off on the rest of the group.
It is not just about winning titles, either. It's also about having the mentality of continuing to show up on the biggest stage, which Rice has shown that he has.
It's a blessing to have a player like Declan Rice in Arsenal's squad, and if he continues to play the way he's playing and talk the way he talks to the rest of the group, Arsenal can go on and achieve a lot more in the next few years.
