Arsenal midfielder Eberechi Eze praised Viktor Gyokeres's infectious energy in a recent interview.

Viktor Gyokeres has not been the best signing for Arsenal this season. However, he is improving and is now up to 15 goals for the campaign. Given the amount of criticism that he received from fans of other clubs and even some Arsenal supporters, it is fair to say that 15 goals is not a terrible output for the first six months of playing in a new league, in a different system.

With that said, there are also a lot of things that Gyokeres has to improve on. For example, his involvement in the game and his mobility are not the best at the moment, but as we saw against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, those things are getting better, and it is only a matter of time until the player hits his best. At least, that is what Arsenal fans are hoping for.

Eze, who also scored two goals, was talking about things that fans do not really see. He was talking about what makes Gyokeres one of the most hardworking players in the team, and it was really good to see a side of Gyokeres that people cannot see on the pitch.

He said: “He's got so much energy. We spoke about it before, it's infectious when you have a player like that and he's working so hard. It makes you want to continue to work as hard as you can to see what he's given. He's an inspiration for all of us working towards what we want to achieve.”

The focus is always on Gyokeres' performances on the pitch, and how many goals he has scored, but when you put such anecdotes out there for people to discuss, it makes you feel a bit differently about players like Gyokeres, who get so much criticism every day.

You get to see a side of a player who pushes his teammates to the absolute limits, who inspires his teammates with everything he can, and whose energy is clearly noticed by those around him. Eze focuses on how hard Gyokeres works, which is a testament to the kind of footballer he is.

He is also relentless. Even if he fails four or five times, he will come back the sixth time and try to do things right. That is the kind of player he was at Sporting as well, and it is good to see that he has brought this energy to North London too.

It is also worth noting that this is just his first season at the club, and things will definitely improve for the Swedish international. There are a lot of things that he has to improve on, but if there is one thing that people have learned about Gyokeres in these last few months, it is that he is one of the most hard-working players on and off the pitch.
