The end of 2024/25 has arrived and now the post-season reviews can begin in earnest for Arsenal, kicking off with appraisals of our 22 first-team stars.
From a quick FA Cup exit to double semi-final heartbreak, the Gunners endured yet another difficult campaign in knockout terms. Yet that pain feels small compared to our Premier League efforts where ANOTHER second-place finish – and a fortunate one at that – only adds credence to snide remarks of our ‘bridesmaid’ status.
But a few bright moments shone through: a special UCL triumph over Real Madrid saw fans dream of European glory; the February clash with Manchester City became an outlet for two years of Gunners frustration; even the recent 1-0 win vs Newcastle United granted peace of mind as well as UCL nights for next season ahead of the final day.
Every Arsenal player to make an appearance this season – ranked from worst to best
It all happened (and did not happen) in 2024/25 via the efforts of 22 Arsenal players, and here is our full roster ranked from worst to best.
Note: Takehiro Tomiyasu, Neto, Tommy Setford, Ayden Heaven, Jack Porter and Josh Nichols are not included in this list.
22. Raheem Sterling

Someone with Premier League experience, who has worked with Mikel Arteta before and will have more than 50% of their wages paid by their parent club – it was the perfect deal, right? RIGHT????
Well, no. Raheem Sterling came in as emergency frontline cover and still failed to make the cut, his poor displays reducing him to bench fodder even as Arsenal grappled with a massive injury crisis in attack.
He follows in the footsteps of Willian, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Henrikh Mkhitaryan as ‘free’ signings who still proved massively disappointing.
A disastrous loan that will be Chelsea’s problem again soon (Hooray!).
21. Oleksandr Zinchenko

Many felt he should have left last season, but Oleksandr Zinchenko stayed put and had no more than a bit-part role this year.
His 2,000 minutes in 2023/24 became just 719 this term – more are likely to come on the final day – and it only signifies how much the Arsenal project has moved beyond him over the past two years. Fans will at least always remember the impact he had in his first campaign and how he helped turn us into title contenders.
The stunner against PSV in March will light up any highlight reel, though it is the only notable thing from an unspectacular individual season.
