Forgotten Arsenal player should head to West Ham to revive his career

West Ham have shown some interest in signing Arsenal outcast Reiss Nelson this summer.

This is according to ExWHUEmployee, who recently claimed that West Ham are exploring a few options on the left wing for a loan deal. There have been some names mentioned, and one of the names admired by those at West Ham is Nelson.

According to the report, Nelson wants to stay in London, and he would fancy the prospect of playing for West Ham on a regular basis.

Now, it is a very difficult situation with Nelson because he has gone out on loan a bunch of times, and it has just not really worked out for him the way either Arsenal or the player would have wanted.

The pickle with Nelson's links with West Ham is the type of deal they want to do

He was touted as a very talented player when he first came into the Arsenal team, but just 21 combined Premier League appearances over the last two seasons for Fulham and Brentford show that Nelson still has some way to go before he can become a regular starter for a Premier League team.

Even if Nelson can't start regularly for a Premier League team, he still needs the consistent game time to get back into form.

This deal, if it ever happens, would be a pretty good one for Nelson because he would get to play at a slightly lower level. That would mean more consistent minutes, allowing him to improve his game before eventually returning to the Premier League, either with West Ham or another team.

The problem here is that Nelson is in the last year of his contract, and obviously Arsenal would have to sell the player if a deal is struck between the two parties. If he goes out on loan, Arsenal would not be able to sell a player who would be out of contract a year later.

Either way, I think it will come down to whether West Ham want to sign him or not because Nelson just has not played enough at Arsenal to warrant yet another contract extension, even if it's just to allow him to go out on loan.

If a deal is struck between all parties involved, it will probably have to be a permanent sale from one part of London to another.

Who knows? Maybe Nelson goes to West Ham in the Championship, and the regular playing time and minutes on the left, especially with Summerville gone, could actually help him regain his form.

It remains to be seen what happens here, and it will be a situation to follow throughout the season because one thing is for sure: Nelson does not have a future at Arsenal.
